In the past
few years, the outlook in Jaisalmer has brightened. Jaisalmer in Jeopardy
has helped concentrate the international, national and local focus on conservation
of Jaisalmer. Several restoration projects are currently under way. Most
importantly, awareness of the need to protect Jaisalmer's historic architectural
heritage is growing among residents and the local authorities - a vital
step for the sustainability of the city.
